To be eligible for our services, you must have a family income below our limit and you must be a resident of Mercer, Middlesex or Union County. Central Jersey Legal Services is a not-for-profit law firm that provides FREE, quality civil legal assistance to low-income people in Mercer, Middlesex, and Union counties. CJLS helps protect people`s livelihoods, health, housing and families. We believe that equal justice before the law is a right, not a privilege, and that low-income people deserve the same access to quality legal representation as those who can afford to pay. Call your district CJLS office and an admissions officer will help you determine whether or not you qualify, or if your legal issue is something we address. Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, Long-Term Care Services, Access to Treatment, etc. CJLS provides legal assistance only in civil cases. We do not deal with criminal cases. We also do not provide assistance in cases that result in legal fees such as negligence or car accidents.
