Requirements for LL.M. (General) and LL.M. (HRDE) courses 3 years LL.B. upon completion under minimum 10 + 2 + 3 samples or five years LL.B. under 10 + 2 + 5 samples recognized by the Bar Council of India, which ensure a minimum of 50% of the total grades in the LL.B.

The Faculty of Law`s innovative legal education reform programme has been adopted by the Bar Council of India at the national level, leading to changes in the model of legal education across the country. It was established as part of Banaras Hindu University as a law school, later it was renamed Banaras Law School and has consistently played an important role in revising legal education and is among the top ten law schools in India including national law schools. The Faculty of Law of Banaras was the first in the country to introduce the class method and the problem method into the teaching methodology at the LL.B. and LL.M.
