Liberal arts students at Kapi`olani Community College can earn an Associate of Arts (AA) degree, earn specialized certificates, transfer to college or university, and best of all, continue studying for life. Liberal arts students go on to four-year colleges and universities to pursue a bachelor`s degree. Students taking courses for the AA degree meet the general educational requirements at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and Hilo. The AA degree can also meet the general educational requirements of colleges and universities outside the UH system. Former liberal arts students transferred locally to the University of Hawaii in Mānoa, West O`ahu and Hilo. Others moved to the University of the Pacific in Hawaii and Chaminade University. Liberal arts students also enroll at universities outside the state of Hawaii, such as Lewis and Clark in Oregon, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, Los Angeles, California, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to name a few. Hybrid courses: Hybrid courses combine face-to-face and online courses and activities. Part of the teaching/course content is delivered face-to-face in a classroom, while part of the teaching/course content is delivered online via KCC`s learning management system (Canvas).

CAS-SARA is a voluntary regional approach to government oversight of post-secondary distance education that has comparable national standards for the intergovernmental delivery of post-secondary distance education programs. Online courses: All content/instructions are accessible online and through KCC`s learning management system (canvas) with regular and content-related interaction between students and instructor. Students can take an online course without coming to the KCC campus, but may need to take tests/assessments at a pre-approved testing center.
